You may or may not remember that my Cadillac CTS shat the bed/spun a bearing and is no longer in working order until I replace the engine. Since I’m not going to do that, its carcass shall be donated to some random nonprofit for a tax deduction. So I bought the thing above.
2016 L-Certified pre-owned Lexus GX460. 35k miles, and not a dent on it anywhere. The interior doesn’t suck, either. My problem: I shan’t be driving it.
That’s right! That’s momma’s new whip. Daddy gets to drive the 146k mile 2011 Ford Expedition. It’s nice, because it’s a Limited package, but it has also been used for normal kid hauler/road warrior duty. It shall do for now. Until I go get an L-Certified LS500 or GSF, of course.
Until then, behold my new thing.

Hnnnnng. Love these things.

I’ve stolen it a couple times to do errands, and it rides plenty nice. The comparable 4Runner we were looking at was a little cheaper, but obviously rode more like an off-roader. But the reliability is why we bought it.

Gonna put a bow on that?

My wife has forbidden me from testing out the off-road features, but what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.

By your command.
That’s a nice ride.

Nah. She picked it out, so she gets no bow.
NO BOW FOR YOU!

Now that’s an upgrade.
I’m going to assume the shop/GM is not taking responsibility for what happened to the Caddy?

Spun a bearing??
What is it, a V10 M5?

The flip side to that, is what she finds out later, can very much hurt you ;)

Would paint the bottom half of that grille body color. And I’d like to have a word with the designer ...

It definitely doesn’t suck. I keep finding BS reasons to drive it, and every time I do, I think “I need to make more money so I can afford another one.”

There’s no way to prove who did what to the Caddy, and it’s not worth hiring an attorney to go after $7k or so.
Its better to move forward with this lesson than stand on a moral ground, sue, and lament.

3.6 DI Cadillac V8. Bearing went bad, destroyed everything around it.
The sound was turrble.

I keep wanting to add a brush guard, 2” lift, upgrade the tires, and slap some skid plates on it. Wife is a killjoy, though.

Well, yeah, that’s why I need to have it detailed immediately afterwards.

Nothing. Nothing could go wrong with this plan ;)

Is that a common issue? I am pretty ignorant when it comes to GM engines.

I have a killjoy too - we’re better off with them calling the shots, of course.

These things last forever and they have looked the same for the past 10+ years. I wish they would update the interior and put some actual tech into it, but I guess if it aint broke dont fix it.
I will say I don’ t like how these drive on the highway. Very tilty and unstable, and bumpy . And that was a 2019 with like 14k miles on it.

Wait, the WHOLE POINT in owning a Lexus GX is to be able to have a luxury 4Runner, including all the cool off-road bits. You can tell her I said that.
I told my wife. She immediately took the GX off the list.
You made a good and rational choice. You can put another 100k on this thing and it’ll still be worth 75% of what you paid.

It’s an awesome whip, it really is. The ride is smooth as silk, and the V8 has some decent enough power for the giddy up. Wife loves it, and I love to steal it when I can for drives to and fro.
